About the Author

Ray A. Twist , local Kingsville cowboy poet, retired from Celanese Chemical Co. of America, as an honored employee of instrumentation and automation skills. Ray has resided n Kingsville for 64 yrs. Married to Ann Bettge Twist, who is deceased (2011). Ray A. Twist helped form and train the 1st Armored Division of the U.S. Army, at Fort Knox, KY, in 1941.

Locally, Ray’s ingenuity and hard work acquired long term leases on land that was reclaimed and brought into productivity for cattle production., aided by the government’s assistant program, RENEW the LAND.

Ray A. Twist wrote most of his poetry for his grandchildren before they left for school, on mornings before he left to tend his cattle herd. They enjoyed the story like poems, and liked the humor in them.
