Nora Cummings and Bill Harper, are the club golf champions at the Happy Hills Country Club in Huntington, Long Island. The fiery redhead, challenges the debonaire millionaire, to a winner take all contest. Nora's intent is obtaining equal rights at the male dominated country club, while Bill and board chairman Mike Grace, are just as determined in keeping a status quo at Happy Hills. THE BET! If Nora wins, parity is achieved, but if she loses, the beautiful thirty-eight year old must leave the club. Nora and her childhood friend Cathy Daley, rally the women of Happy Hills to withhold sexual favors from their husbands and other household duties when board president Mike Grace cancels the women's member guest tournament and limits the women's playing time. In retaliation, the board president hires sexy maids to visit the homes of board members and prepare a meal as part of their services, banking on the jealously of their wives to surrender. But the embattled women don't take the bait and hire their own hunks for the day to provide whatever their fancy desires. The men are outraged at their board president who assured them his tactic would work. They force him to reinstate the lady's member guest tournament and playing times. The board president schemes to rid the club of Nora Cummings, but when an article appeared in the local newspaper of the upcoming match between the two club champions, it chastised Mike's ruthless tactics, providing enough ammunition for the National Organization of Women to force him into a corner, threatening his tenure as board president. But when a major television network decided to cover the match for a handsome financial arrangement with the club, Mike was spared the disgrace of being ousted by fellow board members. Nora is shocked by Cathy's revelation that she was once romantically involved with her rival. Nora convinces Cathy to lure him to a motel with the intention of getting him drunk and reveal the plan that he and Mike Grace had up their sleeve. The sinister board president planned on duping Cummings and the National Organization of Women after the upcoming match, but his scheme backfires when Harper retreats from the plan, feeling Grace was going too far. Undaunted, Mike's determined to rid the club of Nora and blackmails a key person to insure the outcome of the match. A flat tire in the club parking lot, made for a strange meeting between the combatants. Bill and Nora put their belligerency aside when he asks the alluring redhead to join him for a harmless cup of coffee. Both are surprised at their comfortable dialogue and a romantic interest begins to blossom. But their past history keeps Nora guarded, wondering if Bill plans on retaliating for being duped by Cathy and is still part of the board president's intent of embarrassing her before the entire membership. The battle continued on the golf course with the strangest of events that makes this romantic comedy both hilarious and heart warming!

Steeped in tradition, the Happy Hills Country Club in Huntington, Long Island, was originally built as a gentlemen’s club, a refuge for men. Although women are allowed to play on the course, they are granted few rights and amenities. Fortyfive-year-old New York businessman Bill Harper detests the idea of women playing on the course. But feisty Nora Cummings seeks to make some changes.
Nora challenges Bill to a two-day, thirty-six-hole golf tournament. If she wins, the club must provide parity for women. If he wins, the widowed Nora must resign from the club. Backed by the board of directors and its president Mike Grace, the millionaire bachelor Bill accepts the challenge and is determined to rid the club of Nora the troublemaker. The challenge becomes a local and national spectacle when the National Organization of Women and a major television network take interest.
While preparing for the contest, Nora begins to date her golf coach, George. But a chance meeting between Nora and Bill off the course and an innocent cup of coffee could change the outcome of the contest and the rest of their lives.
