When my nephew John was born he inherited a pretty important name in our family. He has had to live up to that ever since. When he was as young as the age of five John showed us what type of resilient and tenacious individual he is. Juvenile Leukemia was his biggest enemy but he faced it, taking all that was thrown at him and then some, with nary a complaint.
Those of us who lament about our aches and pains were all brought to task when John showed us that even when he had reason to whine and complain, he didn't. He proved what a soldier he really was then and now.
John has proven that marching to the sound of your own drummer and being true to who you are is the way to go. That's why we are all so proud of him and why we love him so much.
His personality is colorful, while others may appear to be blue, red or black and white in appearance, John's is like that of a rainbow. We all agree how beautiful rainbows are.
More than his personality or his good looks John is a beautiful individual because of his smile. It is contagious. His toothy grin forces each and every one of us to smile and that too is wonderful.
John is a kind and sensitive member of our family. He was unsure if everyone would still care as deeply as we do for him if his true colours were revealed. To us, his colours are beautiful.
John is proof that life doesn't have to be perfect to be wonderful.

Richard Todd Canton knows all too well that when tragedy strikes, you can either triumph or fail.
When he was accused of a sexual offense while working as a teacher’s assistant, he looked right into the lens of a television camera and said he’d stood up for every kid in town, and he hoped that someone would stand up for him. Almost everyone did exactly what he asked.
