Chapter 3 Why it is so important to tell your story of deliverance There are many people all over the world that are presently facing challenging situations. There are also others who, for whatever reasons have been written off by society. There are many that have lost jobs that they considered secure. I know that it is quite challenging to start over. I know that it is sometimes overwhelming to face the opposition that some encounter daily. But I have to insist that true victory over situations, circumstances and difficult persons is available through Jesus Christ. It is important for us to love those that are hard to love Over the last several months God through His Holy Spirit has repeatedly witnessed to me the following scriptures found in 1 Samuel 22: 1-2: David therefore departed thence, and escaped to the cave Adullam: and when his brethren and all his father’s house heard it, they went down thither to him. And every one that was in distress, and every one that was in debt, and every one that was discontented, gathered themselves unto him; and he became a captain over them: and there were with him about four hundred men. Isn’t it amazing to see that David surrounded himself with people that had issues? One of the challenges that the church faces today is that often we have become so focused on physical buildings that we have forgotten that God in heaven is concerned with us building up physical people with issues, using the word of God, and the testimony that is found in the redeeming power of the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ. I also wanted to make the point that many churches that have large physical buildings are also so well structured that they are still very focused on presenting the gospel to those that are lost. One of the challenges that many of us face is that often when choosing to witness to others, deep down in our hearts we tend to focus on persons that either look just like us, or have a similar social status. If we look around our congregations today and do not see any one that does not look like us, or does not have the same societal status as us, then it is possible that we have lost track of the true will of God for our congregations.
