About the Book

ACKNOWLEDGEMENT John Igo of San Antonio College, was a noted poet (he published 12 books on poetry), was an Emmy Award winner, had a San Antonio Library Branch named after him, has been called “a literary treasure of San Antonio College,” and often read my poetry. In those days, we both taught at San Antonio College. He taught English and I taught Economics. His office was on the 5th floor of the Moody Learning Center and mine was on the 7th. As soon as I finished a poem, if I felt it was worthy of him, I would run down the stairwell two floors and let him read it. In general, he said the style of my poetry reminded him of Emily Dickinson. I was so astonished by the comment that I never asked him to explain. If you find a little of Emily in my poetry, and I certainly hope you do, remember John Igo discovered it first. No matter what you meant, John, thank you, thank you so much.
