The Field of Being

We are, quite literally, stardust. Our personal biography begins 13.7 billion years ago with the Big Bang. It continues through the swirling creation of billions of galaxies. Some of the stars in those galaxies exploded in spectacular cataclysm, creating carbon atoms that found their way to Earth and eventually became our bodies. Starbursts are the only way that carbon is created in the universe. We are the progeny of exploding stars. And, we are the Earth. We are more than connected to the Earth. We are the Earth. We are made of the Earth. We are that part of the Earth that gets up and walks around on itself. We are each a pool of pure, living consciousness that has picked up a little earth, a little cosmic dust, to form a body around it. The stardust image is also apt because science is telling us these days that we are beings of light. It recently became possible to actually measure the light emitted by a human being. Wisdom traditions all over the Earth have talked in these terms for thousands of years. We are beginning to realize that we are beings of living light and consciousness that have a body as an appendage or attachment. We are temporary whirlpools of livingness, light, energy, awareness and intelligence--surrounded by a vast ocean, a cosmic Field of livingness, light, energy, awareness and intelligence. When our personal whirlpool stops, we melt back into that ocean. We were never separate from it. We were only temporarily organized into a small whirlpool in this living cosmic ocean. What this means is that we can never fall out of this vast ocean of life. We can only melt back into it. We can only go home to this cosmic Field of livingness, which abides miraculously, infinitely, and eternally.
