Willow House Introduction This is the story about Jack, Evan, and Madison Bloom, three siblings from Shreveport, Louisiana. The Bloom children grew up working in the family seafood company, which their father Zachary Bloom had taken over when his father passed away. He said he was always told the business would be his someday, and though he loved the seafood industry, he realized that at least one, if not all, of his children might not feel the same way, so he made sure they all had the opportunity to go to college. Jack is the eldest of the three, and the most serious in nature. He is tall, and has dark brown hair and dark eyes like his father. Evan is the middle child, and though he is also tall, his hair is a lighter brown than Jack’s, his eyes are green, and he is anything but serious. Madison is an exact replica of her mother when she was her age, or so her father always told her. She is average in height, has blonde hair, and dark blue eyes. Her personality is a combination of Jack’s and Evan’s, and though the two of them love to tease her, it’s apparent they both adore their sister. None of the Bloom children look even remotely alike, and Evan loved to take advantage of that when they were children, by telling anyone who would listen, that he was in fact, an only child until his parents adopted Jack and Madison. Chapter One It seems that a great aunt, on their mother’s side, passed away, and the three Bloom siblings were her only survivors so she left them a house in Ocean Springs, Mississippi that had been in the Bienvenue family for generations. The old aunt lived in South Carolina so it was assumed that this was a vacation cottage. Jack, being the eldest of the three, said he barely remembered her, so of course; the other two didn’t remember her at all. Both their parents were deceased, and they knew of no other living relatives they could speak with about Aunt Margaret. Jack said he did remember going with his mother to South Carolina once to see her aunt Margaret, and when they left, his mother seemed very upset, and from that day on, he never heard her name mentioned again, that is until today. “I don’t get it,” said Madison, “a great aunt, that we didn’t even know, left us her summer house and we are not even allowed to show our respect by at least going to her funeral.” “Hey, I agree,” said Jack, “but the attorney said that she had already been cremated, and did not want a memorial. Her only request is that the three of us to go to the cottage within two weeks of her death. He said there would be a letter there, explaining everything we needed to know.” “This is kind of eerie, don’t ya think?” said Evan. “After all, she is dead, so why would she be so mysterious.” “Maybe it has something to do with her last visit with Mom,” said Madison. “Jack, you did say that Mom was pretty upset when the two of you left?” “She was, but when I asked her what was wrong; she just said she didn’t feel well. I can’t even say I actually saw Aunt Margaret, because her cook took me into the kitchen for milk and cookies before she came downstairs to meet with our Mother, I heard them raise their voices a few times, and the next thing I knew, Mom was dragging me out of there.”
