About the Book

The last thing Jake Jennings wants is to return home. Burlington, Vermont was home until he and his mother are forced to relocate to New York because of his father’s conviction.

When Jake receives the e-mail says Ben, his dog that was left behind is dying, he has no choice but return home despite his better judgment. Upon his arrival he finds it was a ruse to get him to return.

A marine biologist who befriended Jake during his father's trial was found drowned in full SCUBA gear off Chimney Point. Jake’s friends are convinced the new owners of Hannibal Island are responsible and want him to investigate. He promises to snoop around for a couple of days, then he's out of there. But curiosity gets the better of him when the facts begin to indicate that the drowning wasn't accidental.
