About the Author

I come from a long line of slaves. Daniell Harrell born in 1844, His son Moses Harrell was born in 1870. Moses daughter my great grandmother born in 1904. I am the daughter of these, my ancestors. My great grandmother gave me the gift of poetry. I will never forget when she told me that she was a poet. Today she writes her poems on my heart. Today great grandmother Alberta has blessed me with a wonderful grandmother Ernestine Futrell and my grandmother has blessed me with a wonderful mother, Rosa Herron. If you want to know who I am, I am a child of God and the daughter of slaves. I am proud of my heritage.
