About the Author

Dr. Farley is currently a national consultant in nursing leadership development, curriculum re-design, and interdisciplinary professional practice development.

She has served on the California Board of Registered Nursing, the board of goveners of the National League for Nursing, and on the editorial boards of two nursing journals. Venner has also served on the board of directors of two health care institutions. She was a member of the board of directors of Long Beach Memorial Medical Center from 1989-1997. During that time she chaired the Medical Affairs Committee which had oversight of all clinical quality issues in that tertiary care medical center. She currently is a member of the board of trustees of Memorial Health Services, which guides and directs a major integrated HC delivery system and HC network in Southern California.

Venner holds a doctoral degree in administration from USC and is certified in managed care by the NPEI. She is well published in her field and her 2 latest books are Nurses Pulling Together to Make a Difference (1995) and Nurses: Future Tense or Tense Future (1996). She is currently working on the 3rd bok in that series.

Prior to developing her consultancy, Dr. Farley was the dean of health professions at Golden West College in California.

She is widely recognized as a presenter at national and international nursing conferences, most noted for her ability to speak to complex issues enlightened by a wise sense of humor.
