About the Book
In this second volume of Odyssey, Charlotte and her companion, Larry, continue traveling but turn their eyes to Europe. Their three-month adventure is a summer tour of Italy from Brindisi to Cortina d'Ampezzo. Sandwiched in between are the cities of Pompeii, Naples, Rome and the Pope, Milan, Padua, Ravenna and more. They examine many old churches, and view Renaissance paintings and pictures of Mussolini. They end up penniless in Venice but return to Greece in time to start new classes.
At the end of the school year Charlotte rides up the Danube and visits Austria, Germany, Denmark and Norway. At this time she has learned to shrug her shoulders and say "inch'Allah" and knows "there are no heathens in this world."
