About the Book
This book is a fictional account of two brothers who are former dirt-poor tenant farmers from North Carolina. One brother is retarded and the other was given the sole responsibility for caring for the retarded one by their recently deceased father. They both travel to Florida with the hope of entering the citrus agriculture business as grove care workers. By an inordinate amount of luck, hard work, being in the right place at the right time and some common business sense, one of the brothers becomes successful beyond his most optimistic imagination. He is not quite as successful in caring for his brother though. And that retarded brother eventually meets a tragic end. It's a classic rags to riches novel with some disturbing events having a significant impact on the eventual outcome.
