“Bobby called to say that they pulled a body out of the water down by the jetty and they think it might be a student at UCI,” said Max flatly.
Bryn’s hand flew to her mouth and she let out an audible sigh. “Have they mentioned a name yet?” she asked, gesturing toward the TV. Max shook his head in the negative. “No, Bobby saw an article in the Daily Pilot. He knows about Kaitlin and he put two and two together. I’m hoping he’s jumped to the wrong conclusion and it’s not her.” He pushed his cup of coffee over to Bryn and got up to get another cup out of the cupboard. By the clock on the stove he saw that the news was only going to last another couple of minutes. When the newscast ended, he flipped through the channels to see if there was anything more. Not finding anything, he angrily punched the power button and turned off the set. “I should have known something was wrong when she didn’t show up on Monday!”
“We don’t know that it’s her,” said Bryn.

About the Book
The Back Bay File, details the fourth major case of the teacher turned private investigator, Max Cantu. While looking into the murder of a woman at an upscale Newport Beach shopping mall, he and his partner, his wife Bryn, uncover a larger plot to kill many innocent people. His investigation delves into the private lives of some very free spirits as well as some very disgruntled Americans. In addition, he is put in the position of having to look over his shoulder because of a threat stemming from a previous case involving a Mexican drug cartel.
About the Author
Walt Turner is a retired teacher. He resides in Irvine, California with his wife, Jean Anne, and their Chihuahua, Bo. He has previously published eight other novels.
