About the Book

Three generations of the Tolliver family lived on the property beside Cross Creek. What began as a rustic apple orchard and roadside fruit stand was eventually transformed into a beautiful, modern, self-sustaining family enclave. Years of hard work, smart planning, and extraordinary skill built the orchards and gardens into a bustling, thriving business and a regional attraction known as Cross Creek Fall Festival. But families have problems and issues. Each have their own dreams, their individual strengths, flaws and shortcomings. Some carry personal demons that may not be overcome. Can the family stay united and focused enough to keep Cross Creek thriving? Strong outside forces - unforeseen circumstances, economic realities, even a national epidemic - combine to bring extraordinary pressures to the family and the property. Finally a ruthless, evil human adversary sets his sights on Cross Creek. Can the family hold on to the business and the paradise they have built?

About the Author

Don Scherbarth grew up in a small town in Nebraska and after college began a successful business career spanning 40 plus years. As a manager and executive in the wholesale grocery business for over twenty years, he and his family lived and worked in Nebraska, Missouri, New York, Minesota, and Wisconsin. In a late life career switch, Don and his wife owned and operated a commercial landscape maintenance and construction company in the Phoenix area. They sold their business after more than 10 years there and moved to California and later to Kansas to be closer to their grandkids. Don and his wife currently live in Lawrence Kansas with their two dogs. He stays active with gardening and landscape projects, working part time at a hardware store, and community activities. Cross Creek is Don’s first published work of fiction.
