About the Book

Accept. Love. Get Out There is the companion book to Tributes to Toronto, The Red Shoes New, Rose Diary Short Stories, and Honour. I am a single person, and a widow, navigating the world and trying to embrace all the complexities of urban life. I wish to share these experiences – which have become my treasures – with my readers. My work here is historical fiction and is not intended to describe any actual person’s real life. Nevertheless, I write these stories with honesty and sincerity, and they are from my heart. I hope you enjoy them. If you wish to give me feedback, I can be reached at: binsobchuk@gmail.com In this collection of short stories, one of Toronto’s most prolific intracity travellers reveals her quirky brand of humour to an acting group, explores the downtown restaurant scene, brings joy to mental health sufferers, supports small businesses in her neighbourhood, and steers a bold course through personal relationships and love. As always, Sobchuk gives generously of herself to her beloved friends and pets. Written with a thoughtfulness that readers will find captivating, Sobchuk strives to get to know countless others – regardless of their age, lifestyle, or socioeconomic status. Traversing the city, be it in the bright heat of a mid-summer festival or grim darkness of an early-morning alleyway, she is both fearless and frank. And in each of these remarkable journeys, the writer remains open and wide-eyed – she is, relentlessly, accepting of the people she encounters, curious about their situations, and hopeful of helping them to make their lives at least a little bit better. As a result, we see Sobchuk’s character evolve and flourish; as readers, we learn and grow with her. Chris Fletcher, M.A. B.A.

About the Author

I am a Toronto-based writer whose work includes “Stories from the West End”, “Honour”, “Rose Diary Short Stories”, “The Red Shoes New”, and
Tributes to Toronto.” I have always been amazed by Toronto, and, once again, I delight in sharing my authentic stories with my faithful readers. My books are historical fiction, and the opinions and anecdotes I present in this work represent my own unique thoughts on the world. They are not meant as treatises for any organized action, political or otherwise.

While these works are fiction, they are inspired by universal human experiences. The story, characters, and events depicted in this book are fictional. Any resemblance to persons – living or deceased – or to real events, is purely coincidental.
