Hammond discovered a history published a century earlier that included an account of his second great grandmother’s journey to wartorn Virginia in 1864 to rescue her husband, wounded in the battle of The Wilderness. Hammond’s historical novel, based on years of research, describes how his ancestor’s rescue mission might have happened.
About the Author
James T. Hammond is a retired newspaper journalist with 45 years experience at The Greenville (S.C.) News, Wilmington (N.C.) Star-News, Asian Wall Street Journal, Wall Street Journal/Europe, The (Columbia, S.C.) State and South Carolina Business Journals. He is retired and lives in Greenville County, S.C. He published Tom’s War, about his father’s World War II experience as a bomber pilot.
