About the Book
The provided text outlines a comprehensive foundational guide to welding and its pivotal role in national industrial development, particularly within the context of Nigeria. Through the lens of the Epe Welding Institute, the authors explore the evolution of joining metals from ancient forge welding to modern robotic and AI-driven processes. Central to the discussion is the application of industrial engineering principles, such as the DEJI Systems Model and the Japanese 5S system, to enhance shop productivity and product quality. The sources argue that sustainable economic growth requires a robust manufacturing infrastructure supported by reliable power, water, and transportation. Furthermore, the text emphasizes the necessity of buying locally-made products and fostering partnerships between industry, government, and universities to drive innovation. Ultimately, the work serves as both a technical manual and a strategic roadmap for leveraging welding technology to achieve broader societal advancement.
