About the Book
To protect her kingdom, the last queen of Egypt colludes with the enemy forces that have invaded her country. Sacrificing herself to the Roman general, Julius Caesar, Cleopatra retains control of her throne, but when the Egyptian queen bears Caesar a son, the lovers determine to rule the Mediterranean world together. After Caesar is brutally murdered, Cleopatra must flee the Roman forces that see her as a threat. Meanwhile, in Jerusalem, Herod the tetrarch manipulates events to gain control of Judea. Herod befriends Rome’s new leaders, Octavian and Mark Antony, who crown Herod king of the Jews. Herod suspects everyone of trying to take his throne, so he kills anyone he believes is a threat. Antony falls in love with Cleopatra, much to the disgust of Octavian and the Roman Senate. Rome declares war on the lovers and Octavian follows the couple back to Alexandria hoping to capture them and bring them to Rome in chains. Will Octavian succeed and finally control Rome? Will Herod succeed and finally control Judea? Or will a true King appear on the scene and turn the entire world upside down?
