Born and raised in Detroit, Michigan, Richard Allen could have just been another statistic. But faith in Yahweh (God), coupled with hope and perseverance has allowed him to thrive amid arduous circumstances. In a cautionary retelling of his personal experiences penned from a prison bunk, Allen shares insight into his path through life with the hope of helping the urban, at-risk population to both navigate (and stay on) the path to success by identifying the potential pitfalls that may hinder progress. While sharing lessons learned and wisdom intended to guide others to adequately prepare for the future, Allen encourages those at risk to be proactive while facing challenges, to find the hidden blessings, transform their mindset, and pay attention to the little details and subtle compromises that are not conducive to forward progression in life. About the Author

Richard Allen was born in Detroit, Michigan. While incarcerated for eleven years, he earned a social psychology diploma from Stratford Career Institute, and eventually earned two associate degrees from Jackson College. He has been a clothing and property preservation entrepreneur, mentor and youth motivational speaker, and founder of the nonprofit, Get R.I.C.H. Allen is currently serving an eight-year sentence.
