About the Book

Mission Driven makes for easy reading and through its vivid description of the areas in which Juanita operates it places you by her side as you accompany her on her journeys from the islands of the Caribbean through Central America and into the jungles of Amazonia, you will be hypnotized held spell bound as you live each mission with her. Mission Driven is a take off from my first very exciting book La Avispa (The Wasp). In that book Juanita, the main character, had vowed revenge on the Mexican cartel for the killing of her parents and siblings. She had decided that the best way to accomplish her task was to destroy the cartels from within. On taking out the main players of the cartel, responsible for destroying her family she thought it was over. But to her annoyance they tracked her down on the island of Jamaica, where she was attempting to settle and put her life back together. There they attempted to take her out, but she got the better of them. In Mission Driven she is flung back into action by that attempt on her life and this time she decided that she would be relentless in going after the cartels and other criminal organizations in the region. This time she would treat each exploit as a mission. She would be Mission Driven.

About the Author

Although fictional, Maj. Ford admits his inspiration for writing this book was garnered from his experiences as a military Intelligence officer and as a member of the Customs Intelligence team working in Jamaica, where he was exposed to and participated in activities involving the cartels. As a result of these involvements, he was able to undertake detailed study of those organizations to develop real insight into their modus operandi and highlight their reaches into different countries of the region. The book also gives a nod to the many talented and adventurous women he encountered in the military and in the Intelligence arena, any of whom could have easily played the leading role of Juanita. A much-honored veteran, Major Ford is the recipient of the Medal of Honor, General Service, Grenada, and the Medal of Honor for Meritorious Service to Jamaica. Although officially retired, Major Ford splits his time between consulting with various entities in Jamaica and the Caribbean region. He also serves as a lecturer on the International Port Facility Security (ISPS) Code and in Intelligence Analysis at the Caribbean Regional Drug Law Enforcement Training Centre (REDTRAC) and writing. He hopes to develop the character of Juanita into a series and encourages his readers to stay tuned for upcoming adventures of La Avispa.
