About the Book

The Beautiful Mermaids is a fun and beautifully illustrated children book series about a pod of mermaids living at the bottom of the Caribbean Sea. Their everyday adventures and dramas about their desires and challenges. Each book brings a lesson to the reader in reference to a specific value: Respect, Kindness, Honesty, Love, Friendship. Each book emphasizes Puerto Rican culture.

About the Author

Carmen Melendez was born and raised in the mountain town of Comerio, in the most beautiful island paradise of Puerto Rico. Growing up she was fascinated with the books her “titi Millin” shared with her. From there her passion for writing was born. In her 20’s she moved to California where she resides. Carmen considers her family to be the most important. From experiences raising her daughters, “The Beautiful Mermaids” series was created.
