When not saddled to the back of my horse, I buried my head in books about children my age. I relished every story of a young person’s adventures, struggles and probable conquests! My heroines’ conquests ultimately led me to seek my own. Growing up in a family of modest means, I joined the military to not only serve my country but to gain access to the education I knew was my only way of reaching young minds, like mine had been reached all those years ago. With a master’s degree in education and thirty years as a Language Arts/English teacher, I had once again buried my head in books that would help children be writers, thinkers and most importantly self-confident! So, when my granddaughter suffered through her trial, it became an adventure and thankfully ended in a magnificent conquest!
