What if an object could change your entire life? Or so you thought… Twelve-year old Saira Amara Lapierre is off to spend the last days of summer with Grandpapa on Vancouver Island as her parents finalize their divorce. Initially determined to keep her family together, a magic stone sends her on an entirely new adventure. As Saira time travels into the 1940s Comox Valley, she forges a friendship with a young Indigenous girl and becomes involved in the story of her brother’s disappearance. While helping unravel the mystery, Saira uncovers an intriguing world of First Nation cultures and learns the answers to some very personal questions of her own.

About the Author

Rae Judy worked as an international journalist and communications specialist before taking to the challenge of children’s book writing. She’s always loved the differences in people and cultures, and believes in the power of stories to change hearts and minds. This is the first in a series of cultural time travel books that Rae hopes will inspire younger readers to learn more about different ways of being in the world.
