Retired Air Force member served his first tour in Vietnam from February 1969 to June 1970 with the 463rd Organizational Maintenance Squadron, Clark Air Base, Philippines.
I write about my time serving in that era and of a girl's closeness from back home that inspired me to become the best I could while I served. Her inspiration from her letters, and care packages sent, made my tour one of the best at the time. She took an interest in what life was like serving overseas, where we went from the Philippines, and keeping me in her thoughts and prayers as I served overseas.
This is just one of the many other stories of my service time during the Vietnam Era and others that shared similar experiences. Other stories from that time were those that I served with, tech school classmates, and a marriage loss.
Today my wife, a retired flight attendant, and I travel in our RV throughout the United States with our dog Flirty Bird. And as I travel, I write those stories that are remembered from those we visit from my military time and share stories with other military veterans and those who want to hear and read about them.
