About the Book

Have you ever tried to find the beginning or end of a tightly wound ball of yarn? I have. Writing this book has been a similar experience. My poetry was not written to be published but to help me survive physical and emotional pain. It helped me write my way out of darkness to the light at the end of the tunnel. Others may have had difficulty in finding that light. I hope sharing my journey will give hope to you on your own journey to light.

She has a daughter, Lauren; a sister, Cenith; three grandchildren, Maggie, Brennan, and Callan; daughter-in-law, Colleen; and niece, Michelle, who has three children, Kayla, Jahi, and Tysen. And last but not least her adorable cockapoo, Ollie (as seen in the picture). All are magical in their own way. Marijean’s spirit is whimsical, unpredictable, and adventurous. She has multiple degrees and has been blessed with a highly successful career in development and marketing for leading health care and social justice organizations. She has lived multiple places and attended multiple universities. She is currently living in Overland Park, Kansas, with her cousin, Danny, who has played a key role in caring for her and keeping her safe. She is a lover of words, bridge, reading, dancing, and make-believe.
