Consider this? A sixty-seven year old Baptist Preacher and a forty-one year old A.M.E. Mission Sister meet. Yes, that's right, a twenty-six year age difference! After much hesitation on her part, they begin to see each other and fell in love. They acknowledged that God was up to something. Now what? It was only eight months later and realizing they were old enough and wise enough to know that God ordained it and it was what they wanted, so why not take their relationship to the next logical level, marriage, right? Looking past all the naysayers which included some family, friends, and side eyes from their separate church families; there was only one cross left to bear with God’s help, and she was just 12 years old.

Married Life as a First Lady. Wow, who would have ever thought I would have to step into that role? Throw in the fact that my Honey Pastor is twenty-six years my senior and now we really have a situation?! A situation that only God could and had to be allowed to carry me through. This is part of my story of while I was trying to figure it out, God was working it out. To God be the Glory!
About the Author
Amy J Lee-Coleman is a missionary at heart, always seeking active ways to serve God’s people in need. She truly believes that we are blessed to be a blessing to others and wants to be found in service to others when the Father returns. She continually volunteers at various outreach opportunities in and around her community. Her sincere prayer is that her journey blesses someone to truly understand what God will do in any marriage if ever placed in any challenging position. She has truly learned that the expectations of man can never be met. She now considers there are lessons, understanding they are sent by a loving God and she pays close attention in order to learn from them. She has been married for over seventeen years to the Rev. Dr. James E. Coleman, Pastor Emeritus of the Greater Community First Baptist Church in Dallas, TX and is mother to an adult daughter, Taryn Hollins who resides in Houston, TX with her husband, Aaron.
