This chapter is called "The Rescue". Today was an eventful day for Sweety. I had let her out of the house this morning, so she can go to the bathroom. The next thing I knew, I heard Sweety barking and barking. I decided to go outside and see what she was barking at. When I got to where Swety was, I noticed an orange and white kitten, with it's head in an empty can of dog food. I was a little scared, because I didn't know if the kitten was still aive. I moved the can of dog food, with my foot and the kitten backed it's head out of the can, and ran up the tree. I was happy to see the kitten alive, but now we had another problem. Now the kitten as stuck up in the tree. I put Sweety in the house and grabbed a ladder. The ladder was too short and I couldn't reach the kitten. I could tell the kitten was scared. I called 911 and they put me through to the local fire department. A firefighter came to my house in a little fire truck. I explained the situation, and he said "the fire truck is on it's way." The story goes on and the pictures tell it all.

About the Book
Pit bulls always seem to get a bad name. But Sweety the pit bull is a good dog who is friendly and loving. When author Doreen D. Diana and her family adopt her, they find she is a very special dog. It takes some time and effort for Sweety to get used to her new home and to new ways of doing things. She has to figure out how to go up and down steps and how to go potty outside. When Sweety visits the dog park, she soon gets to know other dogs, but she also discovers the importance of walking away from bullies. She meets Bunny, a wild rabbit who lives in the backyard of her house, and has an encounter with an orange-and-white kitten who comes to visit. All the while, Sweety and her family learn important and valuable lessons. This true story for children describes the first few weeks that Sweety the pit bull spends with her new family and outlines the efforts it takes to adopt a new dog.
About the Author
Doreen D. Diana was born in Long Island, New York, and moved to Nevada at age twenty-seven. She has worked as a Certified Pharmacy Technician and Licensed Practical Nurse and is currently a commercial truck driver. She makes her home in York, Pennsylvania.
