My Life as a Surgeon

Once I had a six-months old female child with severely distended abdomen, suffering for weeks with a palpable mass in the abdomen as well as chickenpox and pneumonia. The child was vomiting all the time and showed signs of bowel obstruction. The father told me that he was in several hospitals but they refused to operate on her due to the pneumonia. I suggested several anaesthetics but they refused also due to the high risk. So, I spoke with the father and told him that the child can only survive if she is operated on, otherwise she would not survive to the morning. However, if she were operated on she may also die, but there is a chance of survival. He agreed and signed the consent form.
