"Is she going to do it?" A fifth grade girl whispered over to her friend during class on a sunny spring afternoon in 1966. "Do you want me to ask her?" the friend responded back. "Yes, ask her," the girl said. "Hey, Amy," the girl whispered over to the next row of desks where Amy was sitting. "What?" I'm trying to listen to the teacher. What is it?" Amy asked. "Are you going to French kiss Brandon tonight?" the girl asked. "I don't know. I've been teasing him all week about it. I just might," Amy responded. "Is he a good kisser?" the girl asked Amy. How should I know? I heard through the grapevine that he is. I guess I'll find out soon enough now won't I," Amy said.

About the Book
Brandon Hanson and Katie Parker both grew up in Greeneville, North Carolina. They both went to the same schools, but more importantly, they both possessed a will to survive. Brandon had some tough decisions to make about family problems, love, and ultimately enlisting in the Vietnam War. Katie had a supportive family, a steady young love, and a successful childhood.
