About the Author

David Kowalewski, PhD, is a two-time Fulbright scholar and National Endowment for the Humanities grantee; he has studied with shamans of many continents, and his research has appeared in several prestigious journals. A graduate of the Foundation for Shamanic Studies’ Three-Year Program in Advanced Shamanic Initiation, he currently lives and tracks wolves in Montana.
