Ever get so frustrated that you throw your hat on the ground and then stomp it? And then you realize what you just did, “Man, that was a good hat!” The fact is; sometimes life is just frustrating. The hay baler breaks down, the bull is out again, and the dog chewed the water hose in two! Aghhhh! Where is God in all this? “Come on, God, let up a little!” Is God trying to get my attention, or has He simply forgotten about me down here? The apostle Paul found himself falsely accused and thrown in prison (Acts 16:16-40). Talk about frustrating circum-stances! What'd he do? He sang praises to God. No, you didn't read it wrong. He really sang. How could he sing at a time like that? Paul knew God had a plan, and he knew God's plan was right (Isaiah 55:8). Last summer a friend of mine and I were hauling some cattle. We had not one, but two, blowouts on the trailer. We inched along for miles while my friend told jokes! “How can you be so happy?” He replied, “God created this day for me, and it'll take way more than a flat tire to ruin it.” I hope Greer's Western Store has a sale on straw hats!

About the Author
Paul Howie lives in Eastland, Texas with his wife and has three children and a grandson. “Pastor Paul” as he is known around the county, is pastor of the Leon River Cowboy Church in Eastland. Paul enjoys roping and is seen often at the arena with his infamous roping horse, Tater. And you never see Pastor Paul without his faithful sidekick, Dixie.
