“Peter, I need you to calm down. I want you to stop and clearyour mind, please,” Dr. Haddenfield said.
“No, I can almost hear him. I’m so close, I can do this,” Peter said as he tossed about in his chair.
“No Peter, it’s too risky. Listen to my voice and come back,” said Dr. Haddenfield sternly. Peter saw Dr. Raymond’s mouth moving again. He finally heard him speak but before he could continue, a black mist started to fill the room. Peter became very agitated and frightened. The mist filled the room like dark, dense, smoke as it rose up and blocked out the sun that was shining through the windows. It then swirled around Dr. Raymond and lifted him up off the ground and held him in the air in front of Peter. Peter recoiled in fear as he watched this smoke invade Dr. Raymond’s body through his eyes, nose, and mouth. Dr. Raymond screamed as he choked back the smoke. Soon, Peter was no longer in Dr. Raymond’s office but instead surrounded by darkness. It felt like being inside a burning building with black smoke billowing around him. The smoke did not suffocate him nor did it burn his eyes. Instead, it felt cold as it swirled around him. Peter could sense that there were many different entities in this smoke, even though he could not see them. Dr. Raymond slowly descended to the ground and slumped forward towards Peter.
He then sat up and opened his eyes to reveal this smoke coming out of his eyes like endless, black pits. Peter saw red pupils pierce through the darkness and stare right at him. This new form of Dr. Raymond cocked his head sideways with a sinister smile on his face. It stood there smiling and staring at him as his head slowly contorted into twisted positions. When it spoke, it sounded like thousands of unnatural voices speaking simultaneously.
“Hello...Peter, so glad to...finally meet you. I’ve heard...so much about you,” the being hissed in different tones as it contorted violently. It sounded like it was gasping for air.
“What are you?” Peter asked, horrified.
“I have been watching you...Peter. You have a very special gift... very special indeed. But, you are not ready for what lies ahead. If you face me...you will lose. This is my realm...and...I am all powerful. Let me...demonstrate,” said the entity inside of Dr. Raymond as started towards Peter. Peter tried to get up and run, but the darkness quickly surrounded him and held him down. Peter cried out for Dr. Haddenfield to wake him up. The entity reached out and picked Peter up by the throat and its mouth opened up bizarrely wide as if to swallow him up.
When Peter tried to scream, the smoke shot out of Dr. Raymond and into Peter. Peter slowly started to feel the loss of control over his body and mind. He panicked and frantically tried to free himself from this vice-like grip. Peter choked and thrashed about in the chair, so Dr. Haddenfield quickly tried to wake him up. In terror, Jessica tried what she could to wake Peter up. She rushed to his side and shook him violently while Dr. Haddenfield tried to bring him back to his senses. With one arm, Peter threw her away and then sat up in his chair and opened his eyes. His eyes had become pools of black smoke, with red piercing pupils. Peter’s voice was not his own as he spoke:
