About the Author

David Kowalewski, PhD is a two-time Fulbright scholar and National Endowment for the Humanities grantee who has studied with shamans of many continents and whose research has appeared in several prestigious journals. Dr. Kowalewski is a graduate of the Foundation for Shamanic Studies’ Three-Year Program in Advanced Shamanic Initiation.
