"One could exist in such a place as this an entire life and be satisfied in its confines. There exists no freer place than in the space between the lines. I hide myself away in here. My dreams have never seemed as clear as the moments I've spent lost in you. I would lose myself in you time and time again, not giving a care to the hours I spend, nor the days that drift away... Nor for the years that I will never regain, or for having been called a fool. For being in love is all I know of the time I'm lost in you. No cares nor regrets for loneliness... No memories of discontent. Though heartache becomes my habitat, I find no shame in it. I would share homelessness for shelter, trade happiness for pain, and wander waywardly in memory to be lost in you again. Love." About the Book
My Unsung Soul presents a look into the heart of a poet. It considers six distinctive themes—love, nostalgia, sorrow, life, testimony, and warfare. Within each element the verses explore a gamut of emotions designed to invoke the deepest sentiments, memories, and dreams.
These verses feature perfectly painted pictures and gardens of good and evil in equal representation, depicting yesterday, today, and tomorrow. Author Derrick DerRon Holloway has loved and disdained himself between the lines, revealing what served as his soul’s salvation and leaving judgment and condemnation entirely up to others. He travels deep into his darkest and all too familiar sins, expressed in his addiction to “She” in the transparency of his testimony pieces. He hopes to hold up mirrors to help others search their souls in an attempt to find redemption in the end. Holloway speaks not of heroics but of things that often go unspoken and unheard.
In this collection of poetry, one man presents expressions of his heart and soul, offering moments of nostalgia, reminiscence, and love.
About the Author
Derrick DerRon Holloway is a native of Durham, North Carolina. He is a poet, singer, artist, visionary, mentor, and successful businessman. He discovered a love of words and poetry at an early age. He is also the Christian spoken-word artist known as the Silverback and a member of the four-man group 4TheKingdom, who founded the Spiritual Beasts Movement, a collective of Christian artists. He and his wife, Sabrina, currently reside in Morrisville, North Carolina.
