It is customary to write biographies of popular personality in terms of their worldly achievements. Often their flawed character overshadowed by their social or political achievements remain unwritten. By contrast there are seemingly ordinary personalities who establish a tradition of piety and righteousness for those who come into contact with them and who carry the legacy of piety to others long after the person has departed. Mian Attaullah was one such rare personality whose life deserves to be recorded and remembered.
He was a successful lawyer, a devout Ahmadi Muslim and a religious scholar. For more than 12 years he was a member of the Ahmadiyya Community’s Council of Judges and Amir Jamaat of Rawalpindi. From the age of 22, until the age of 61 years, he was a member of the Majlis-i-Mushawarat. For years he was a regular speaker at the Community’s Annual Vonventions (Jalsa Salaana) held in Qadian and Rabwah. Some of his speeches were published in book form by the Ahmadiyya Community.
