Memories: Many Roads to Home

Gather round, dear ones! I want to tell you a story. It’s about a little girl who was born and grew up in the big, weird state of Texas many years ago. You each live in or near very large cities. She grew up in small towns at a time when there were no cell phones, no television, no computers, no iPads. Imagine that! Boring? Well, actually, no. Th ere were activities and adventures of a different sort in that now-distant past. I want to share them with you so you know firsthand something of what it was like in those days. And I want to tell you about people who were a part of the times—a few names have been changed—because some of those persons are your relatives, and they and their stories are also a part of you and who you are.
