Chasing Unicorns
Look there is fog in the distanceHalf a rolling hill in close view Grass clean an crisp with morning dew
Its kind of cool in the air flow But not cold enough for snow
A sliver of sunshine pierces Through this thick fog cape
Perhaps soon the grey will lift off this landscape
The air dancing around gets warmer
Fog begins to dissolve
No longer being trapped in this corner
Sky is blue and doesn’t stop the rain
The golden globe projects its beam
A rainbow spreads its hand
To where I look up an stand
I am looking for the elusive creature
Maybe you know its name
All white, majestic, powerful and strong
I would imagine somewhere it has its own song
Thought I saw, but maybe I didn’t
Thought I heard, but maybe I couldn’t
Thought I felt, but maybe I was dreaming
Thought you saw, but maybe you wouldn’t
We're hear now on its turf
Some say its real as a smurf
Has to be real, nothing else has so much beauty
Maybe I’m on a buzz, impaired judgment
Crazy, insane, under the weather or in pain
No none of that, much the opposite
I am beaming like the rays on my face
Its eyes are locked on mine Even as it could be the last time
Slowly makes the journey towards me Feeling nervous, feeling shaky
Kind of the butterfly effect many describe
Like love itself, its all very mysterious
You think your getting close
Finally finding that connection
Feeling that one of kind flow
Like a bolt of lightning, it all lets go
The lights shut off
Thus ending this current I thought I was close love show
Elusive creature five feet from feel
Slipping on the wet grass as if it slipped on a banana peel
I blink, an this creature disappears
From my memory reel
Gone, no where to be seen
Vanishing like paper in the wind
Back to square one
Where this all begun
Feelings to describe my current mind
None.

About the Book
Continuing the approach he took in his first collection of poetry, R. S. Apple presents Different Seconds 2: Hello, Friend—See, Hear, Feel the Difference. In these verses, he celebrates the fact that no two people view life in the same way.
From the realization that each day dawns with hope and possibilities in “Dawn of a New Sky” to the fanciful “Chasing Unicorns,” Apple expresses his thoughts in a unique and powerful cadence. The point/counterpoint of “One Story Apartment” gives us a birds’ eye view into the challenges of relationships, while “Death Valley” talks of the terror of a terrible traffic accident involving many cars.

About the Author
R. S. Apple has been writing poetry for over eight years. He has an international business in Orillia, Ontario, Canada. He has always struggled with grammar and spelling, but with the support of family and friends, no obstacle has been too great for him to overcome. This is his second volume of poetry.
