Well, I suppose I should warn you about some of the characters around here. This is a newsroom sweetheart and like any newsroom it attracts the mottliest group of personalities.”

“Well, our news director Mitch, for starters. If he ever summons you into his office, make sure he never shuts the door or you’ll be on your knees before you know it, if you get my drift. You’re just his type too. He likes ‘em skinny and young...the younger the better. He’s married with four kids but since when did that ever stop a man, right? He’s moved through a few girls in the station.”
“Thanks for the heads up, he’s the one who hired me and I did get a bit of a pervy vibe from him.”
“Absolutely, trust your instincts around old Mitch.”
“But why would any woman go for that guy? I mean, he’s so unattractive.”
“Yeah, but he’s news director and that makes him plenty attractive to a certain brand of woman. Power can be quite the aphrodisiac especially when he can make or break your career.”
“That’s just wrong.”
“You may have just graduated from school, honey, but you’re about to start getting your education as of today. Character number two that you have to watch out for is the six o’clock producer, Finn Fong.”
“Yes, I just met him downstairs. He thought my name was Paula.”
“Piece of work isn’t he? Thinks he’s so fierce. He believes that every man wants to be him and every woman wants to be with him. He prides himself on making people cry. Just flatter his ego and he’ll leave you alone. Tell him how smart he is. He likes that.”
“What about Trevor Drake?”
“I was just getting to him. Mr. Anchorman. He’s a paranoid bag of insecure shit, that one. He’s afraid he’s getting old, that he’s losing his hair and getting fat. Personally, though, I think his biggest fear is that people will find out he’s not too bright. I know; dumb good-looking anchorman...it sounds like we got him from Central Casting. But trust me that stereotype didn’t just come out of nowhere.”
“Thanks for this Donna. I really appreciate it.”
“It’s nothing; I was a babe in the woods just like you once. We women have to look out for one another. This is a real boys club and most of them are still shaking their heads wondering who let us in here.”
