Everyone who is alive and can think has some sort of belief system. It may include a god, or it may deny a god altogether. Many people have agreement on the things they believe in---but there are many who do not. There are two main categories. There are those who believe that the material life is all there is, and that death ends it all. Then there are those who believe that man is not just a material body, but that he is a spirit attached to, or associated with, a body. This spirit or what I refer to as the consciousness, they believe to be indestructible. Consequently, it survives when the body dies. These latter people far outnumber the ones who do not believe in the survival of a spiritual element. They are usually associated in organized religions and, as a consequence of their sheer numbers and their strong association with each other, they have always had great power, and they have been able to rule the world for thousands of years.

About the Book
“Wake up, Lien. Think for yourself!” describes the origins and some of the history and the excesses of Christianity and Islam. It shows how mind-control enters into the formation of these religions, and it urges the reader to free himself or herself from the out-dated notions that may have been implanted in his mind by parents, teachers, and religious functionaries. It suggests the Eastern teaching of reincarnation as a possible substitute as that appears to be a more satisfying and logical belief system.
About the Author
When during World War II the Germans forced the author into slave labor and forced him to dig trenches during the night in the no-man's-land along the Russian front, he faced death every hour of every night. He prayed to God to get him out of that hell but to no avail.
