Honey from the Rock

In my opinion, it goes without saying that, left to himself, man will never believe the gospel message; it is simply too farfetched. Think about it. This Spirit, who calls Himself God, claims to have stood on the canopy of nothing and created everything—the universe and everything it contains. This One, who calls Himself God, also claims to have left Heaven to become a man in the person of His only begotten Son, Jesus, who, according to Him, lived some thirty-three years in the land called Israel. He also claims that this Son, Jesus, was born of the virgin womb of a woman named Mary.
Furthermore, He claims that this Son came into the world to live among men and eventually to die on a cross to save His people from their sins and to give them eternal life. As if that were not enough, He also claims that this Son was buried in a borrowed tomb, where He remained for only three days, and was then raised from the dead.
To add insult to injury, He even claims that this “resurrected” Son walked among the people of Israel for forty days after His resurrection, clearly revealing Himself to many of them.
Then the icing on the cake. He claims that this Son actually ascended back to Heaven, thereby returning to His Father, where He now sits at His right hand.
Then to top it all off, He claims that this Son will return to the earth for His Bride, and take her back with Him to live forever in the celestial city He calls the New Jerusalem.
Now you tell me, who in the wide-world would ever believe this unbelievable story? I will answer my own question: only those to whom He gives the faith to believe this story will believe it, and, I might add, every one of them will believe it and theirs is eternal life—a gift of lavished grace, indeed.
It is my sincere prayer that the hours I have spent putting together my perspective of the gospel—Honey from the Rock: A Study of the Gospel of Grace—will not have been spent in vain. If you are reading this, please know that I have already prayed that God has motivated your heart to press on in your passion to know Him whom to know is eternal life.
