When the Lights Go Out
What will you do when the lights go out? As the power grid collapses and the associated economic turmoil ensues, what are you going to do when you don’t have any money to pay bills or buy food? What if goods cannot make it to market at affordable prices because fuel prices are at $7.00 dollars per gallon, or more? What is life in your city going to be like?
Could we see riots, anarchy, and a complete breakdown of civil order? Is martial law possible in modern America? If this is what you could possible face in the future, how are you going to cope? How are you prepared to feed your family, keep them warm and protect them?
For over 20 years now I have been warning people to look for the precursors of an economic crash. When it occurs, gas and food prices will be so high that very few people will have the ability to go to work, buy food or pay the mortgages. This scenario will precipitate riots and bloodshed in our streets. It would then devolve into anarchy, and finally martial law (or worse). Here is just a preview of some of the things we currently take for granted that can be impeded or outright banned under the pretext of a “national crisis.” Homeland security will set up road blocks on all major roads in and out of the cities, to prevent:
Freedom of movement or travel (*.sam) |*.sam|Windows Write (*.wri) |*.wri|User dictionary (*.lex) |*.lex| Check for food hoarding Confiscate firearms, even those that we hunt for food
Relocate people to “better places” Ensure control over the population through complete dependence on the state
FEMA has over 600 camps that we know about. Here in Utah we have at least 4 camps. If you want to look at one, drive on the west bank of Utah Lake. Forced labor camps as we have seen in human history, can be established here. You would be mistaken if you think it cannot happen here. If you want to eat, you will have to work for it in segregated work camps for men, women and children. We could all be separated from our families. I can think of no more inhumane degradation.

David Browne earned a degree in criminal justice with an emphasis on homeland security and terrorism. He spent the past twelve years living off the grid with his family. He is a disabled Vietnam veteran who spent time in the Dominican Republic during riots while with the 82nd Airborne and witnessed the Watts Riots in Los Angeles. He currently lives in southern Utah.
