Gray Skies

It seemed to be an almost impossible task, but years ago, both he and Pete had decided to find the solution, at any cost. And now they were here with her, and if he wasn't mistaken, she was falling for him again. At least he hoped so. This was his definition of soul mates. Despite circumstance, true soul mates were never separated—this was the belief that had pulled him through over the years.

"Desti, I'm really sorry to hear what you've been through.” I was taken back by his concern and the effect that my recounting of my past seemed to have on him. I reached for him and placed my hand on his cheek. The moon reflected pools of silver light in his eyes. I felt incredibly drawn to him. I watched him closely while he seemed to be trying to compose himself. “Is something wrong?” I asked. He slowly twirled me around like we were in a romantic waltz. Finally, he pulled me close to him and trapped me in his gaze. “No. You are absolutely beautiful and perfect,” he said softly. “I'm so glad that I've finally found you.” He placed both his hands at the side of my face. He drew closer to me, and I immediately became immersed in pools of silver light. I looked into his eyes and felt an ease and familiarity that I couldn't explain. My eyes traced every crease of his brow, memorizing everything that I could in case I awoke and realized that this was just a dream. The racing of my pulse, however, reminded me that this was as real as I could ever feel. My knees shook when he gently pressed his lips on mine. He broke away suddenly, as if he too felt the jolt of electricity that I felt buzzing around me, his eyes searching for something. He brought me toward him once again, gently at first and then hungrily, as if finally satisfying a need he’d felt for a very long time.
There was nothing I could do but melt in his arms, overpowered by emotion. At first I timidly placed my arms around his neck, but then something took over, and I wanted more. Surprisingly, a few tears welled up. I couldn't explain the rally of emotions hitting me all at once. I couldn't get enough of him and leaned into him as much as I could; I needed to feel him all around me, all at once.
“There is so much that you need to know,” he said softly as he finally pulled away gently. But I couldn't help myself—I pulled him toward me once more.
