Throughout my entire experience, I was not afraid of dying, I was afraid of living in the uncertainty of what tomorrow will bring. Was it going to be a good dialysis treatment or was I going to be able to dialyze that day or was I going to be sent to emergency for another procedure to unclot my graph or for emergency surgery one more time? I was afraid of leaving my children. I was afraid of leaving little Richie, he was so small and he needed me so much, at the same time I was tired of the struggle I had to face day by day. What helped me get through those days was my faith in God; He carried me through, keeping a journal helped too. It helped me to write down my good and bad days. I asked God to help me with the courage to fight for my life for one more day, to give me one more opportunity to see the sunrise and the sunset. Today I am not defined by my pain or disappointments, or my many set-backs I have had in my life. Today, I define myself by the courage to keep on fighting and to see beyond and to count the many blessing I have had. To quit would have been the easy road to take. For every problem you encounter and overcome your understanding of life increases. Remember to stand tall, and proud and go forward.

About the Author
Mina Gonzales is inspired by her husband, two sons, and grandchildren. Her kidney transplant donor is her angel, and her book is dedicated to him and all organ donors who give life. Mina currently lives in California.
