Jonathon Roberts followed a family tradition of US naval officers. Dedication to his tradition didn't allow him to meet his “First Love”, Annie, until graduating from the naval academy. Assigned to the CIA in Afghanistan, he assumed an Arab name and posed as a Saudi where he infiltrated Taliban territory to gather intelligence. Due to his military circumstances and false identities he lost all track of Annie.
Jonathon’s naval career was spent in the clandestine world of Special Forces, CIA and Naval Intelligence. Even though Jonathon, somehow, managed to find affairs of the heart what was Jonathon’s destiny?Seeing lots of action over the next three years in Afghanistan, he earned two Purple Hearts, two Silver Stars, The Navy Cross and the Congressional Medal of Honor.
In spite of his circumstances Jonathon had affairs of the heart with two more American women, Sue Walker and Becky Simon.
Sue married another man but when learned that Becky was reassigned to Walter Reed Hospital he thought she might be the one he could marry and create a family.
Would he ever have a normal life? Would he find true love? Would he be the last Roberts to serve in the Navy? Or, was it his destiny to be married to the Navy and spend his life without a family of his own?

About the Book
Jonathan Roberts comes from a long line of naval officers. He has been groomed since birth to serve his country honorably, and as a Navy SEAL, he does not disappoint. Driven to succeed, he is assigned to the CIA in Afghanistan, where he accomplishes more than anyone could imagine.
He assumes an Arab name and poses as a Saudi so he can infiltrate Taliban territory to gather intelligence. Over the next three years, he earns two Purple Hearts, two Silver Stars, the Navy Cross, and the Congressional Medal of Honor. Even so, something is missing from his life. He has two affairs to fill the void: one with Sue Walker and another with Becky Simon.
Sue ends up getting married, but soon Jonathan hears Becky will be back in his life, working nearby. Is this a sign? Has he found a woman to love? Jonathan’s destiny is unclear. He feels driven to serve his country, but he also dreams of being a husband and father. Is he destined to be with Becky, or is he destined to be married to his work, like so many Roberts men before him?
About the Author
James R. Youngblood served in the US Navy as a combat air crewman. Following his military service, his career was mostly in the US defense industry. After his retirement, he wrote his autobiography. He then wrote his family history and the biographies of four World War II veterans. He lives in Laguna Woods, California, with his wife of sixty years. This is his first novel.
