Originally produced in 1988 by a Haverhill school teacher, this trivia guide has been reorganized and revised with help from Haverhill High School students. It’s filled with fun facts about the city, ranging from historic properties to colorful characters. Trivia questions and answers ranging from the city’s form of government and its geography to education and sports reveal surprising historical tidbits about this New England town.
Also included are updated maps, such as the one showing the city’s original boundaries and a 1795 map of Haverhill. In addition, activity sheets offer a fun way to learn about places like Winnekenni Castle, the old Boston & Maine Railway, and even the joys of local cuisine.

E. Philip Brown is a history teacher at Haverhill High School. He holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Massachusetts–Amherst and a master’s degree from Lesley University. Brown and his wife, Chrisi, have two children and live in Haverhill, Massachusetts
Patricia Garwich is a retired sixth grade teacher from Consentino School in Haverhill, Massachusetts. She moved to Haverhill with her family in 1960. She holds a bachelor’s degree from Lowell State College and a master’s degree from Lowell University.
