Religion is getting a bad rap these days. Lots of people are deciding they don't need it. When I consider the amount of superstition and bigotry that are being practiced in the name of religion, I can understand how those people feel. But doing without religion really doesn't work. Every person and every community has a basic set of beliefs and values and relationships that shape their lives. Those things are your religion whether you choose to call it that or not. That being the case, it seems better to think through the things that are going to shape your life instead of just drifting into them. For the sake of those who choose to do that, I would like to share my reflections on religion and life in the hope that some of the big basic beliefs of the Christian faith may come to make sense and to have value for those who choose to read.

About the Book
Jim Killen has lived a long and deeply meaningful life. When he learned that he was suffering from a terminal illness, he decided to gather up the insights and experiences he most wanted to share with those whom he loved and put them together into a series of short reflections on religion and life. The reflections gathered themselves into five groups: Reflections on the shape of reality, Reflections on learning to love, Reflections on the things God does to save us, Reflections on finding the way into a personal relationship with God, Reflections on some other really big questions.Jim invites you to let him share his reflections with you. He hopes that they will lead you into an adventure in faith.
About the Author
For forty five years, Jim Killen served as pastor of a succession of United Methodist churches. He earned a Doctor of Ministry degree. In his retirement, Jim extended his ministry through teaching, writing, and prison ministry. Jim lives with his wife, Juanita, in Beaumont,Texas.
