"It’s Not (Just) About Me" I sit naked and ashamed with a life I can’t stand I’m guilty for who I’ve been and for who I am I had success figured out. Failure’s not what I planned. I’m in a free fall from glory with no safe place to land. My sorrow is deep and my troubles are wide. The fountain is flowing toward my certain demise. Some people come along for my ill-fated ride. Caring less while I live than they will when I die. People talk about my problems, my sins, my lack, solutions and resolutions that would put me on track. Speaking to me, not about me, might help me in fact. But, whispered sour nothings twist the knife in my back. Like reality TV, you tune into me for idle fun and games. You may want to serve me but, man's ways are all the same. So I’m longing to escape my heart and my brain. Flee these trials, tribulations and all of my shame. What else must i do, what else must I say? Will I find magic or a miracle, if i stop and pray? I need a rescue. Can't live like this another day. Listen to what I say. Notice me before I fade away. Try to think of who I am longing to be. Don't just trust in what your naked eyes see. Call Him, plead with Him, talk to your God, for me. Without you I'm left wondering, does He want me free? Was I just a mistake, created in vain, like a forgotten word in a hymn’s refrain? Do you care when I cry again and again? Was I brought to life merely to be slain? My heart is breaking, so please rescue me today. I feel all out of time, with few words left to say. I am surrounded by others, that tell me that they pray. Do they have the power to take my troubles away? Send one Lord, just one, or two with your grace. To touch me, to feed me, lift me out of this place. I'm guilty but, still human. Haven't we all made mistakes. God, teach someone to love me, before I see your face. I'm certain, I left you some time ago. For what I've been doing, I'm sorry. You know? Please, forgive me for everything, God. I need you everywhere I go. I need to talk about deep questions of you. Am I your friend Lord or am I your foe? I feel heartache, doubt, anger and shame. If I can't see you, Lord, send someone you know. Not more than a city block away A child of God chose to obey that still small voice that simply said, “Call.” Kelly knew who, not why, or what she would say. To Kelly this was like other times before, But, today she’ll follow God, come what may. She has a peace that also comes with a bit of regret. God has urged her for weeks, to do things His way. Kelly prayed, "Thanks, for keeping me a part of your plan. Thanks Savior, for I remember the sins you atoned. Please grant me wisdom and more strength to obey as I look up the number and pick up the phone." Kelley dialed Diane's number and waited as it rang. "Will Diane think that I'm crazy as I explain who I am? "Hello, How's it going?" Kelly nervously practiced what to say. Then the phone was answered and the conversation began. "Hello?" Diane said, with surprise in her voice. Kelly said, "Hi, I'm Kelly, from the church down the street. I called, well, to see if you were OK and I was hoping that we would be able to meet." It’s Not (Just) About Me (continued) Hearts were lifted when Kelly chose to obey. The miracle began weeks before Diane even prayed. It’s true to say, her simple obedient act of calling, was like raising her hands to worship and catching someone falling.
