About the Book

POOR MAN’S MEDICINE is the third volume of what can be called “The Notational Trilogy”—acerbic views, interpretations and opinions about contemporary human existence, society, the environment, culture, and everything else. These pieces are sometimes wistful thoughts of things past, or often unease about the future that we are being dragged into. About previous books in this trilogy, readers have said they have been “informed, amused and—often—outraged!” These reactions will continue, and, as before, the reader WILL NOT BE BORED!

About the Author

DAYTON LUMMIS was educated on the East and West coasts, and holds advanced degrees from bars and honky-tonks throughout the Intermountain West. Among his various professions he lists “Missionary—but not the kind you are thinking of!” These days he can be found either at the bar of the Algonquin Hotel in New York, or at his casita in Santa Fe relaxing with a beer and a seegar, reflecting on the old one penny postcard. He regrets that many things are not what they used to be—and never were. The author is in the photograph above, taken in Cripple Creek, Colorado, in what one must conclude is very dubious company.
