A cacophony of thunder wakes me up prior to my 7:30 alarm, which I interpret as a clear omen that this week is going to be even more tumultuous than the last. Fortunately the storm tears me from my acid flashback-esque dream, during which at one point I was dangled by my toes over a local causeway in a threatening manner because I mishandled a “drop”. As I sullenly enter the kitchen the sight of my glorious banana cream pie reminds me that this week is more than about maintaining my invisibility at the workplace. I glance at Ethel’s cursive filled recipe card and smile as I notice for the first time the “Go Get Him Girl” written on the bottom. The betterment of my mood continues as I push the start button and hear the glorious drip of the caffeination needed to improve my spirits. The storm has subsided, and I momentarily feel glad for the additional prep time it yielded. My steps are a bit more leisurely and my actions a bit more relaxed due to this thunder-induced cushion. I turn on the shower a few minutes early in an attempt to warm the water, fairly confident that this will make no difference whatsoever, but pray for some type of relief from its bitter cold. Alas, there is none, but I appreciate the improved focus the sub zero environment provides.
There is a simple formula that I must follow to find joy within my life I resolve as icy shards jerk away any remnants of my REM cycle. Step 1. Befriend and woo sexy neighbor. Step 2. Continue to maintain a non-descript, yet efficient manner at work. Step 3.Become social icon of Southern Florida (SoFLA as it will be referred to hereafter). As I massage my temples and scalp, the soothing aroma of chamomile and lavender are released and provide me with the illusion that this three-part plan is feasible. I am a firm believer that a positive attitude, in addition to three part plans, can make a world of difference. I write off any doubts, commence the eucalyptus and thyme moisturizing wash that closes my morning shower routine, certain that my plan will be successful.
