But here we are, our hearts broken, our bodies broken, our dreams broken! I am you Polish Woman; I am you Ukrainian Woman; I am you Russian Woman; I am you Jewish Woman; I am you Gipsy Woman; I am you German Woman; I am you Woman, watching this monster in front of me as he gets closer like an animal in heat, and I am there, hopeless, legless, breathless, powerless. I am so scared, I am shaking. He rips my clothes, the fabric I sewed myself, the lace that I felt pretty and feminine with, the buttons that I liked so much; he tears through them and I am dying of fear; he grabs me with his filthy hands and I am the one feeling shame; he crushes my breasts as if their beauty was worthless, as if their tenderness was useless, as if their loving giftedness was needless; and I am in pain; my tears flow, but they are impotent. He invades me and the pain is unbearable; am I bleeding? Why am I ashamed? I have been prudent; I have been modest and loving to my man! Whose husband is this? Whose son is this? Are they not natured in the human kind? When will this pain stop? I want to die now! Please stop! Oh mercy, he is done and I just want to cover my mangled body; I feel torn and shredded; has he destroyed me inside? Will I bear another baby one day? Or will I bear this monster’s baby!? Will my husband spite me? Have I shamed him? Who raped me? Did the war rape me or did this men’s world rape me? I cannot move; my legs are frozen in pain. Will this be the last monster inside of me? Is he going to kill me now? Will he stab me or will I be worthy of a bullet? I am so scared, how painful could being knifed be? I need to stop feeling; I need to stop smelling this foul stench; I need to die now, but is my daughter safe? Is she? Is she, please??

About the Book
WWII rages brutally across the oceans, and the city previously known as Berlin in Canada is shaken by a series of murders that seem to indicate a racial and political vendetta by a communist killer.
Decades later, a seemingly harmless diary comes to light, revealing the true nature of the tragedy and the profound pain that prompted the real murderer to avenge the forgotten victims of the war.
The hymns of allegiance of the killer elicit intensely conflicting feelings in the mind of the accidental reader, and yet, a firm devotion to correct the evils of war and sexism is instilled in his brain and in his conscience.
About the Author
Karmel Arbelaitz, an engineer with a deep humanistic vein, is a Colombian-Canadian with a passion for story telling. With two more books in progress, he favors subjects on women values, heroics, and their role in society. He lives with his wife Magnolia and their three children in Burlington, Ontario.
